Tiger Shroff (born Jai Hemant Shroff on 2 March 1990) is an Indian actor and singer who works mainly in Hindi films. He is known for his action roles, dancing skills, and athletic performances. He made his film debut with Heropanti (2014), for which he won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Male.[1]

Early Life and Background

Tiger Shroff was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a film family. His father, Jackie Shroff, is a well-known actor, and his mother, Ayesha Shroff, is a film producer and former actress.

He has a younger sister, Krishna Shroff. On his father’s side, he has Gujarati and Turkmen roots, while on his mother’s side, he has Bengali and Belgian ancestry. His maternal grandfather, Ranjan Dutt, was an Air Vice Marshal and a Vir Chakra awardee.

Shroff studied at the American School of Bombay. He has trained in martial arts and holds an honorary fifth-degree black belt in Taekwondo. He is also a devotee of Lord Shiva and observes fasts during religious occasions such as Mahashivaratri.[2]

Debut and Early Success (2014–2020)

Tiger Shroff made his acting debut in 2014 with the action-romance Heropanti. The film was a commercial success, and his performance was noted for his dance and action abilities.

He gained further popularity with Baaghi (2016), which became a successful action film. In the same year, he appeared in A Flying Jatt, followed by Munna Michael (2017), though both films did not perform well at the box office.[3]

In 2018, he starred in Baaghi 2, which became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. In 2019, he appeared in Student of the Year 2 and later in the action thriller War, which became his highest-grossing film and one of the biggest hits of the year.

In 2020, he reprised his role in Baaghi 3. The film performed moderately due to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting cinema releases.

Career Decline (2021–present)

After 2020, Tiger Shroff faced a series of commercial setbacks. Films such as Heropanti 2 (2022), Ganapath (2023), and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024) did not perform well at the box office.

He also appeared in Singham Again (2024) as part of a larger ensemble cast. In 2025, he starred in Baaghi 4, which received mixed reviews and underperformed commercially.

Despite these challenges, he continues to work in action films and remains known for his physical performances.

Other Work

Apart from acting, Tiger Shroff is involved in sports and fitness activities. In 2019, he co-founded the mixed martial arts organisation Matrix Fight Night (MFN).
