Dhruv Rathee (born 8 October 1994) is an Indian YouTuber, activist, and digital educator known for his fact-based explanatory videos on politics, society, economy, and environmental issues. He is regarded as one of India’s most influential digital creators due to his large global audience across YouTube, podcasts, and streaming platforms.[1]

Early Life and Education
Dhruv Rathee was born in Haryana, India. He completed his schooling in Haryana before moving to Germany for higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). He later completed his Master’s degree in Renewable Energy from the same institution.[2]
Career
Dhruv Rathee began his YouTube journey in 2013 with travel-related videos. Later that year, he shifted his focus toward political commentary and fact-based analysis, becoming one of the earliest Indian YouTubers to consistently produce explanatory content on public policy and governance.[3]
His videos primarily focus on contemporary political developments, social issues, environmental awareness, and economic topics, presented through fact-checking and data-driven explanations. He also introduced a satirical segment titled Pee News, which presents fictional and humorous news content.[4]
Between 2017 and early 2020, Rathee served as a columnist for ThePrint. In July 2020, he launched a second YouTube channel titled Dhruv Rathee Vlogs, dedicated to travel content. He later hosted shows such as DW Travel for Deutsche Welle and Decode with Dhruv for Netflix India. He also hosts the Spotify podcast Maha Bharat with Dhruv Rathee.
In 2022, Rathee launched a short-form content channel focused on concise fact-based videos. In April 2024, he announced the launch of multiple regional-language YouTube channels offering dubbed content in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, and Kannada.[5]
