Aditya Narayan
Aditya Narayan Jha (born 6 August 1987) is an Indian playback singer, actor and television host. The son of veteran playback singer Udit Narayan, Aditya began his career as a child singer and actor and later established himself as a popular host of music reality shows including Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Indian Idol. He has worked as a playback singer for films, released independent singles, acted in feature films and appeared on several reality programmes.[1][2]
Early life and education
Aditya Narayan Jha was born on 6 August 1987 in Mumbai to singer Udit Narayan and Deepa Narayan Jha. Growing up in a musical family, he performed publicly from a young age. He attended school in Mumbai and later studied at Mitthibai College. In 2006 he completed a diploma in English contemporary music from Tech Music Schools, London, furthering his musical training.[3]
Career
Child artist and early playback (1992–2006)
Aditya’s first recorded playback assignment was for the Nepali film Mohini (1992). As a child performer he sang extensively and released the album Aditya (Polygram). His child-artist playback for films such as Rangeela (song: "Rangeela Re") and the hit Chhota Baccha Jaan Ke from Masoom (1996) brought him early recognition and awards.
He made early on-screen appearances as a child actor in films including Rangeela (1995), Pardes (1997) and Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai (1998).
Transition to adult roles, music and hosting (2006–2015)
After completing musical studies in London, Aditya returned to India and moved into television hosting and adult playback singing. He hosted Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 and went on international concert tours with his father. He also sang playback for films and composed tracks — notably contributing songs to Shaapit (2010) in which he also played the lead role, and later lending vocals to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) including Tattad Tattad (recorded as a vocalist).
Television prominence and independent music (2015–present)
Aditya became a familiar TV face hosting multiple seasons of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Indian Idol and other reality formats. He also released independent singles (for example Tu Hi Pyar Hai, Lillah, Kyun) and formed a band, The A Team. In addition to hosting, he appeared on reality shows such as Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 9 (2019; first runner-up) and Rise and Fall (2025).[4][5]
He has continued to sing for films and release independent music, while balancing hosting assignments and occasional acting appearances.
