Shanaya Kapoor (born 3 November 1999) is an Indian actress and model who works primarily in Hindi cinema. She is a member of the prominent Kapoor film family and is the daughter of actor-producer Sanjay Kapoor. Shanaya began her film career behind the scenes as an assistant director on Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020) and gained public attention through the Netflix reality series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives.
She is set to make her Bollywood acting debut in 2025 with Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan, followed by Bedhadak, marking her entry into mainstream Hindi cinema.[1]
Early life and education
Shanaya Kapoor was born on 3 November 1999 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, into the Kapoor film dynasty. Her father, Sanjay Kapoor, is an actor and producer, while her mother, Maheep Kapoor, is a fashion entrepreneur and public figure.[2]
She completed her schooling at École Mondiale World School in Mumbai and later pursued a bachelor’s degree. From a young age, Shanaya showed interest in acting, fashion, and cinema, and she trained in dance and performance arts.[3]
Career
Shanaya Kapoor began her professional journey in 2019 when she represented India at Le Bal des Débutantes in Paris, an event that introduced her to international media attention.
In 2020, she worked as an assistant director on the biographical film Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, gaining behind-the-scenes experience in filmmaking.
She made her on-screen appearance through the Netflix reality series Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives (2021), where she featured alongside other star children. Around the same period, she also began modeling and walked the ramp for leading Indian designers, including Manish Malhotra, at major fashion events.[4]
In 2025, Shanaya is set to make her Bollywood acting debut opposite Vikrant Massey in Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyaan. She will also star in Bedhadak, produced by Dharma Productions, which is considered her launch vehicle in commercial Hindi cinema. In addition, she is part of the Telugu-language film Vrushabh opposite Mohanlal and the Hindi comedy Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 alongside Kapil Sharma.
