Rashmika Mandanna (born 5 April 1996) is an Indian actress and model known for her work across Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. Often referred to as the “National Crush of India”, she is one of the highest-paid actresses in South India. Rashmika has earned several honors, including four SIIMA Awards and one Filmfare Award South. She gained nationwide acclaim with her portrayal of Srivalli in Pushpa: The Rise (2021), which solidified her status as a pan-India star.[1]

Early Life and Education

Rashmika Mandanna was born in Virajpet, Kodagu district, Karnataka, to Suman and Madan Mandanna. Raised in a Kodava Hindu household, she completed her schooling at Coorg Public School and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Journalism, and English Literature from M. S. Ramaiah College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Her entry into the entertainment industry began in 2014 after winning the Clean & Clear Fresh Face of India contest.[2]

Career

Early Career and Breakthrough (2016–2020)

Rashmika made her acting debut in the Kannada film Kirik Party (2016), directed by Rishab Shetty. The movie was a blockbuster and won her the SIIMA Award for Best Debut Actress. She followed it with successful roles in Anjani Putra and Chamak (2017), earning her first major award nominations.

Her Telugu debut came with Chalo (2018), but it was Geetha Govindam opposite Vijay Deverakonda that made her a household name. The film became one of the highest-grossing Telugu hits of that year, earning Rashmika the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress – Telugu. She continued with Dear Comrade (2019), where her performance as a cricketer received critical acclaim despite mixed reviews.[3]

In 2020, she appeared in Sarileru Neekevvaru opposite Mahesh Babu and the comedy hit Bheeshma, both of which performed strongly at the box office.

Pan-India Stardom (2021–Present)

Rashmika’s nationwide popularity soared with Pushpa: The Rise (2021), directed by Sukumar and co-starring Allu Arjun. Her portrayal of Srivalli and the viral song Saami Saami made her a cultural sensation across India. She made her Hindi debut with Goodbye (2022) alongside Amitabh Bachchan, winning the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. She also starred in Mission Majnu and the romantic drama Sita Ramam (2022).

In 2023, she co-starred with Ranbir Kapoor in Animal, one of India’s highest-grossing films of the year. She reprised her iconic role in Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024), and in 2025 appeared as Maharani Yesubai Bhonsale in Chhaava opposite Vicky Kaushal.

Her upcoming projects include Sikandar with Salman Khan, Kuberaa with Dhanush, and the romantic horror Thamma.
