Early Life and Education

Susan Wojcicki was born in Santa Clara, California. She was raised in an academic family; her father was a physics professor at Stanford University and her mother was a journalist.[2]

She studied history and literature at Harvard University, graduating in 1990. She later earned a Master of Science in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Career

Early Career

Before joining Google, Wojcicki worked at Intel Corporation and as a management consultant at Bain & Company. Her early experience in marketing and consulting helped shape her future leadership in the tech industry.

Google

In 1998, she rented out her garage in Menlo Park to Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, which became the company’s first office. She officially joined Google in 1999 as its first marketing manager.[3]

At Google, she led the development of major advertising products including AdWords and AdSense. She also played a key role in launching Google Image Search and contributed to early branding efforts such as Google Doodles.[4]

YouTube

Wojcicki was instrumental in Google's acquisition of YouTube in 2006 for $1.65 billion. In 2014, she became CEO of YouTube.[5]
