Siddhant Chaturvedi (born 29 April 1993) is an Indian actor who works in Hindi films and streaming series. He is known for his breakout role as MC Sher in the musical drama Gully Boy, which earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.[1]

He began his career in web series and gained recognition through sports drama Inside Edge before transitioning into films and leading roles in streaming projects.

Early life and background

Siddhant Chaturvedi was born in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, and moved to Mumbai at a young age. His father is a chartered accountant and his mother is a homemaker.

He studied at Mithibai College, Mumbai. Initially, he planned to become a chartered accountant while also participating in theatre and acting competitions.[2]

During college, he won The Times of India Fresh Face Contest in 2013, which helped him enter the entertainment industry.

Career

Early work and breakthrough (2016–2019)

He began with the web series Life Sahi Hai and later appeared in Inside Edge (2017–2019), where he played a young cricketer. His performance received attention for its natural style.

His film breakthrough came with Gully Boy (2019), where he played MC Sher, a street rapper who mentors the lead character. The role earned him critical acclaim and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.[3]

Career growth and streaming success (2020–present)

In 2021, he appeared in Bunty Aur Babli 2, which underperformed at the box office.

He later starred in the streaming film Gehraiyaan (2022), where his performance received positive reviews. He also appeared in the horror-comedy Phone Bhoot (2022).

In 2023, he featured in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, a coming-of-age drama that performed well on streaming platforms.

In 2024, he starred in the action film Yudhra, which failed commercially.

In 2025, he appeared in Dhadak 2, a romantic drama addressing social issues. His performance was widely appreciated despite the film’s box office failure.

He will next appear in upcoming projects including a comedy film directed by Raj Mehta.[4]
