Satya Nadella was born on 19 August 1967 in Hyderabad, India, into a Telugu Hindu family. His father was an Indian Administrative Service officer and his mother was a Sanskrit lecturer.

He studied at Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology in 1988. He moved to the United States for higher studies and completed a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 1990.
